Director General of the Parliamentary Development Institute, Saad Fayyad Mozan, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the relationship between the elected House of Representatives and the citizen who participated in its formation by exercising his constitutional right is a mutual, continuous and effective relationship in parliamentary work, and that the role of the citizen is not limited To vote in choosing his candidate, but he has an audible opinion in the Council, leading to accountability before public opinion.
Mozan said in a speech during the session to enhance parliamentary awareness that was held in the Shooting Club under the auspices of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, and the participation of a member of the Legal Committee, Representative Muhammad Anouz, the legal advisor to Parliament, Muhammad Al-Ghazi, and the delegation of the Babel Tower organization, in partnership with the Ideas Without Borders organization. And the Independent Organization for Youth, that "cooperation between the citizen and the parliament will increase facing the challenges facing Iraqi society and developing appropriate solutions to them."
He added, "Access to Parliament is available to everyone, and therefore any citizen can reach members through their offices, whether in Parliament or the offices of the House of Representatives in the governorates or their constituencies in their electoral districts, in addition to the publicity of plenary sessions and their broadcasts, and access to information and sources of knowledge is made possible through means." He stressed that "the fact-finding committees are working to identify the opinions of citizens regarding issues of interest in Parliament, and it is one of the means of communication between the representative and the citizen to know the facts directly."
He pointed out that "the mechanism of hearings is one of the modern means that enhance the relationship between the citizen and the House of Representatives by presenting a general topic for discussion with the aim of exchanging opinions or objective monitoring of the government's performance or legislative hearings to seek the citizen's opinion on legislation that is beneficial to society."
For its part, the Babel Tower organization affirmed that it "seeks to create partnerships with the legislative and executive authorities and to participate in discussions that focus on legislation in coordination with the Parliamentary Development Institute and parliamentary committees, as part of the requirements of its projects to follow up on draft laws that touch the lives of citizens, including a bill of rights."
