Today, Saturday, the government spokesman, Basem Al-Awadi, confirmed that the Basra-Shalamja railway link project is an economic step that complements the Al-Faw port project and the development road, considering that it is not possible for a government to adopt the completion of the Al-Faw port and allocate billions from the budget for it and proposed a development road project worth 17 billion dollars over a period of time. 5 years to go towards another project against its objectives.

He added, "The government launched a development road project that cuts through Iraq lengthwise and connects all its provinces with each other and then connects with Turkey, while today the new phase of the Basra-Shalamcheh railway link has begun to transport travelers and visitors from Iran and beyond from Central Asia, and the Prime Minister was clear in his speech." Today, when I announced that the project is dedicated to transporting travelers and visitors, it is known that the words of the presidents are political stances that must be stopped.
Al-Awadi explained, "The government does not neglect any objection based on questioning and inquiring about the feasibility of any project, especially if it has regional and strategic dimensions, such as the railway link, and the government does not take strategic decisions without studying the economic feasibility on the one hand, and on the other hand in terms of guaranteeing The country's economic and political security and that the proposed projects do not affect the country's sovereignty or have political goals in favor of others at the expense of the national interest. These are taboos and red lines that cannot be tolerated. Therefore, Iraq is interested in the movement of travelers to and from it, and there will be upcoming projects with other neighboring countries to achieve Same goal."
Al-Awadi pointed out, "It is not possible for a government that has adopted the completion of the Faw port and allocated billions from the budget for it, and it is the same government that proposed a development path project worth $17 billion over 5 years to go towards another project against its goals, as this objection has more political dimensions than an objection." For technical or realistic goals, and the fact that the railway link project on the part of Iraq is a complementary link to the port of Faw and the road to development in the future when it is completed, and it will begin to transport passengers and visitors.
