the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ghiyath Al-Sourji, confirmed on Thursday that the Iranian opposition parties in Sulaymaniyah and Halabja have not yet been disarmed, stressing that the members of these parties will remain within the region, but far from the Iranian borders.
Al-Sourji said in an interview followed by Mawazine News, “Until now, the Iranian opposition parties in Sulaymaniyah and Halabja have not been disarmed,” noting that “efforts are continuing to find a safe place to transfer them, and they have been officially informed of this.” He added that “the members of these parties are continuing.
” They did not object to the decision and are satisfied with the decision in order not to expose their families and Iraqis to Iranian bombing.”
He pointed out that “the members of these parties are about 100 kilometers away from the Iranian border,” stressing that “these members will remain within the region but far from the Iraqi-Iranian border.”
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced earlier that “the deadline given to the Iraqi government to disarm the Iranian Kurdish opposition is scheduled to expire on the 19th of this month.”
