    Information / Baghdad..
Member of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, MP Haider Al-Salami, confirmed on Saturday that the Iraqi-Turkish negotiations over water are not in Iraq’s interest.

Al-Salami said in a press interview with Al-Maalouma, “The reality of water in Iraq has become one of the most important challenges facing the government, and this file must be given priority and made the first of our external files because it relates to the fate of millions of Iraqis.”
He added, "The Turkish negotiator is still in control of all the negotiations taking place between the two countries regarding water, despite our possession of large, pressing cards that can force us to force the Turkish negotiator to submit to recognizing our rights approved by international and UN laws regarding riparian countries."
Al-Salami called on the government to "make the water issue a priority in shaping the relationship with the Turkish side politically, economically and commercially."
It is noteworthy that the Agriculture and Marshlands Committee warned against resorting to wells, due to a sharp decline in water reserves as a result of Turkey not granting Iraq’s share and rights to the waters of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers within international agreements and charters. Ended / 25 AD
