     Baghdad today - Erbil
Today, Thursday (October 12, 2023), oil specialist Kovind Sherwani revealed what he described as “the major point of disagreement” over the oil file between Iraq and Turkey and the resumption of exports through the port of Ceyhan.
Sherwani said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The major point of disagreement regarding the Kurdistan region's oil export file lies in the legal and judicial aspects," noting that "Turkey intends to achieve a new deal that will achieve large financial profits."
He added, "Ankara wants to achieve the fees for transporting and maintaining the Kurdistan region's oil through the Turkish port of Ceyhan, in addition to its desire to be exempt from the compensation amounts imposed on it by the International Court of Arbitration in Pars, as a result of a complaint filed by Iraq against Turkey."
According to Jordanian Energy Minister Alp Arslan Bayrakdar, "The oil pipeline towards the Turkish port of Ceyhan is ready to transport oil and resume its export from the Kurdistan region and Kirkuk."
Earlier, Reuters quoted Iraqi oil officials as saying that "Iraq has not received an official signal from Turkey in this regard."
Meanwhile, informed sources revealed to “Baghdad Today” that “Iraq may move to resume exporting Kirkuk oil through the Turkish port of Ceyhan at a rate of 80,000 barrels per day and excluding Kurdistan oil from export due to continuing technical disputes and how to calculate financial dues to oil companies operating in Kurdistan.”
