The Federal Integrity Commission announced that a lawyer was caught red-handed in committing the crime of bribery. In exchange for a false promise to close the file of a senior officer in Nineveh with the Federal Integrity Commission.
The Commission’s Investigation Department stated, according to a statement received by (Ann News), that “the Commission’s Investigation Directorate in Nineveh formed a work team after receiving information contained in the complaint of a senior officer in Nineveh Governorate stating that he was subjected to blackmail and bargaining from “a lawyer and an officer with the rank of colonel,” and requested bribes. From him, in exchange for closing the file of the complainant’s inflated funds with the Integrity Commission in Baghdad.”
She added, "The team, in cooperation and coordination with the complainant, set up an elaborate ambush for the defendants inside the Nineveh operations headquarters, where the lawyer was caught red-handed committing the crime of bribery and receiving a sum of money amounting to $2,000 in exchange for a false promise to close the file of the complainant's inflated funds with the Commission."
She noted, “organizing a proper arrest report on the operation and presenting it, along with the accused and the seized exhibits, to the competent investigating judge, who decided to arrest him, in accordance with the provisions of Resolution (160 of 1983), and to issue an arrest warrant for the other accused, who holds the rank of colonel.”
