Today, Monday, the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah, called on the security services to open an investigation into his office being subjected to an armed attack.
His office said in a statement received by Mawazine News, “The office of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, in Kirkuk Governorate was subjected to an armed attack on Monday morning by unknown persons using a Toyota Camry.”
He added, "The clash took place with the office guards, and they responded and the vehicle was hit, but the gunmen managed to escape."
Shakhwan called on “the competent security authorities to conduct an urgent investigation to uncover the perpetrators, pursue them wherever they are, and bring them to justice as soon as possible so that they receive their just punishment.” At the same time, he expressed his “deep concern about the repeated attacks on his office inside the city.” He continued, “These cowardly acts will not discourage determination and perseverance.
