On Tuesday, the Kurdistan Democratic Party determined the reason for the delay in the export of Kurdistan oil via the Turkish Ceyhan line, while explaining the extent of the impact of mutual visits between Baghdad and Erbil on the oil and gas law file.
The leader of the party, Wafa Muhammad, said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, “The basis of the dispute over continuing to export Kurdistan’s oil via the Ceyhan line is the demands imposed by Ankara,” pointing out that “these demands are rejected by the federal government, which prevents the export of oil.”
He added, "The region is determined to export oil again through Ceyhan, and we called on the central government to resolve this issue, with the Turkish side, as soon as possible."
Regarding the oil and gas law file, Wafaa stated that “the visits taking place between Baghdad and Erbil may not be able to resolve the oil and gas law file,” stressing that “this law must be decided by all political blocs, and discussed as a draft and as points, within the House of Representatives.” ".
Earlier today, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, confirmed that “the Regional Government delegation, which is on a visit to Baghdad, is engaged in discussions to find a radical solution to the differences and outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad, represented by the issue of the budget, salaries, and the resumption of Kurdistan oil exports through the Turkish port of Ceyhan.” ".
