The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, met on the sidelines of the World Climate Action Summit in Dubai, today, Saturday, December 2, 2023, with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres. In the meeting, the latest developments in the situation in Iraq were discussed, In addition to shedding light on the wars, conflicts and challenges taking place in the Middle East region. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the role of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), and the continuation of its tasks in order to establish security and peace in Iraq. The Prime Minister also stressed the necessity of resolving the controversial issues between the region Kurdistan and the federal government, in a way that guarantees the constitutional rights of the people of Kurdistan, calling on the United Nations to exercise its effective role to contribute to addressing these problems.[/size]
