The Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government announced, on Tuesday, that 250 billion Iraqi dinars had arrived in its bank account for the purpose of financing the monthly salaries of employees and workers in the public sector in the region.
The ministry said in a brief statement today that Rafidain Bank deposited this amount in its bank account at the Erbil branch of the Central Bank of Iraq.
Yesterday, Monday, the Ministry announced the signing of a contract to receive 200 billion dinars as a loan through Al-Rasheed Bank.
The Federal Ministry of Finance announced, the day before yesterday, Sunday, the tenth of December, that it had launched a loan worth 700 billion dinars to finance the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees, in implementation of the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani.
The Federal Ministry stated in a statement that it “issued last Friday, 12/8/2023, letters granting the regional government a loan worth 700 billion dinars to cover the salaries of the region’s employees by guaranteeing a deposit provided to the Federal Ministry of Finance, provided that it is settled from the region’s dues after their commitment to the provisions of the budget law.” This is based on the approval of the Council of Ministers and in implementation of what was stated in its Resolution No. (23520) of 2023.
The statement added, "This comes from the Ministry's keenness to implement its procedures in accordance with what is stated in the Federal General Budget Law No. 13 of 2023, including securing the financial rights of those entitled to it, and as confirmation of the government's keenness to meet the requirements of employees in the Kurdistan Region, and to implement financial reforms aimed at promoting economic growth." ".
