Anti-corruption specialists believe that the campaign launched by the Federal Integrity Commission to report the inflation of funds in the Ministry of Commerce and its departments; A smart step to dismantle corruption and pursue existing networks in the ministry, but it requires strenuous efforts in order to achieve what the Commission aspires to.
The head of the “Rasd” organization specializing in integrity and anti-corruption affairs, Abdul Razzaq Al-Sultani, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “The Integrity Commission launching a campaign to report the inflation of funds in the Ministry of Commerce is not an easy matter, and it is a complex process because these episodes are always carefully guarded.” “And their falling into the net of justice requires exceptional efforts, so one of the smart steps of the Federal Integrity Commission is to dismantle these networks by penetrating them within the follow-up of ministries and institutions.”
He pointed out that “what is related to corruption in the Ministry of Commerce is very important because it is directly linked to the livelihood of citizens, the poor, the destitute, and those with limited income, and many corrupt people have tampered with this ministry, in addition to the manipulators and thieves of public money.” He stressed that “the Ministry of Commerce was placed under the supervision of The spotlight of the Integrity Commission will expose many corrupt people and lift the lid on them, and the important thing is the support and cooperation of the honorable employees working in this ministry, and the responsibility today falls on their shoulders to expose the thieves of the Iraqis’ livelihood.”
Al-Sultani stressed, “In fairness, the interaction of media institutions has contributed significantly to reducing financial and administrative corruption in all government institutions.”
Yesterday, Friday, the Integrity Commission set up a hotline to report the inflation of funds in the sector of the Ministry of Commerce and its departments and subsidiaries.
The authority stated in a press statement that “it has set the period from the twenty-second of this December to the end of January of next year to report the inflation of funds in the sector of the Ministry of Commerce and its departments and affiliated companies in the center and governorates,” urging “esteemed citizens to report any An increase in the funds of employees and managers in this sector, or their spouses or children, that is not proportionate or inconsistent with their normal resources.”
She pointed out that "the continuation of the campaign to report on the inflation of the funds of employees or those assigned to public service, or their spouses or children, in the form of sectors, was thanks to the cooperation of citizens who provided the Authority with important information that is being investigated, and some of which judicial orders have been issued," indicating that "the continuation of cooperation between... The authority and citizens in the file of money inflation will lead to the return of billions of dinars to the public treasury.”
The Commission explained, “This campaign falls within its duties to prevent and combat corruption, and to recover the people’s stolen money that was unlawfully seized by the corrupt, as it opened two accounts in Rafidain Bank in Iraqi dinars and US dollars, in order to deposit the recovered amounts.”
