The Minister of Environment, Eng. Nizar Amidi, confirmed that the launch of the environmental improvement project in Iraq will contribute to strengthening the environmental planning and implementation aspect at the level of performance of sectoral ministries and local governments in implementing government programs and the national contribution document on climate change.
This came during the launch of the environmental improvement project in Iraq and supporting the progressive green economy at the Ministry’s headquarters in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The Minister of Environment stated that the Ministry of Environment has taken a path in adopting projects that have a significant impact on improving the environmental reality in Iraq, in addition to that it has turned into an effort. Great awareness and media.
Pointing out that the Ministry of Environment aspires to strengthen these partnerships and know all the roles required in improving the environmental reality and move towards strategies that are compatible with Iraq’s environmental problem.
The Minister of Environment stressed the need to raise the level of environmental work in Iraq and climate work in order to address the effects of climate change and not rely on fossil fuels and adopt clean energy instead.
For his part, Mamunur, Director of the Energy, Environment and Climate Change Portfolio at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), said that full support will be provided by the program to launch the project in accordance with the international vision to achieve the project’s goals in improving the environment.
The Ministry of Environment Advisor, Dr. Nazir Abboud said that the project’s objectives are to analyze national and international funding sources for the transition towards the prevailing green economy according to solid scientific methodologies and in a manner consistent with the international vision of the United Nations Development Programme.
