Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Industry announced its intention to involve the private sector in investment opportunities to establish phosphate factories, and while it referred to its production lines for plastic materials, it confirmed at the same time the adoption of plans to cover the local need for urea and DAP fertiliser.
Ministry spokeswoman Doha Al-Jubouri said, “The Ministry contributed to supporting government projects related to infrastructure,” noting that “Ministry of Industry companies contributed to supporting the Ministry of Electricity by equipping it with both types of electrical transformers (distribution and power), and mobile and fixed secondary electricity stations.” In addition to electrical power generation systems using solar cells, a KIOSK box station of various capacities, transformer protection boxes with breakers of various capacities, in addition to electrical poles, low and medium pressure power transmission towers, and electrical smart meters.”
She added, “The companies also equipped the Ministry of Electricity with electrical generators of different capacities, a power factor improvement system, and electrical cabinets, in addition to a medium voltage system (11 KVA and 33 KVA), and electrical wires and cables of both low and medium voltage types.”
She pointed out that “most of the products of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals companies serve and meet the needs of the state ministries and enjoy high efficiency and quality and were included in the Iraqi products guide approved by the Council of Ministers and Representatives,” indicating that “the products include electrical, mechanical, food, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as textile and strategic industries.” Petrochemical, construction and chemical industries.”
She added, “The General Company for the Southern Fertilizer Industry, in turn, produces urea fertilizer and covers approximately 25 percent of the country’s need,” stressing that “the company has serious projects in partnership with the private sector during the next three years to meet the country’s need for urea and Dab fertilizer and export the surplus abroad.” .
She continued, “The ministry’s companies also produce electricity poles, lighting, generators, power and distribution transformers, electrical wires, food and medicine cables, in addition to leather and textile industries, water filtration and desalination plants, chemicals, fertilizers, cement and bricks, in addition to many other diverse products.”
She continued, “The General Phosphate Company in Anbar Governorate has the ability to extract and transform phosphate rocks into important chemical products and phosphate fertilizers,” noting that it is “no less important than the oil industries and is an important economic tributary to the country.”
Al-Jubouri pointed out that “the company’s factories were destroyed by ISIS, which led to the cessation of its industrial activity, and the ministry is currently searching for investment opportunities in partnership with the private sector to establish new factories with high production capacities.”
She revealed, “The General Company for Petrochemical Industries has the capabilities to convert natural gas into low-density, high-density plastic granules, which are the primary material in various important plastic industries, in addition to having production lines that convert these granules into agricultural covers and bags.”
