The US Ambassador to Iraq, Alenia Romanski, announced on Tuesday that the total deposits held in Iraqi commercial banks increased by about 37% over the past two years.
The ambassador said in a post on the A bank account in local banks by 31%.
She added, "We have made impressive progress. By working with Iraq on reforms, we are contributing to building confidence in the banking sector, as modern banking services enable a greater amount of foreign investment and the protection of funds from financial crimes, theft and loss."
