This came in a speech during a meeting held with the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
A statement issued by the Turkish Presidency's Communications Department stated that Erdogan and Barzani discussed regional and global issues, the "development path" project, and the fight against terrorism.
According to the statement, Erdogan said that the “Development Road” project is important for the countries of the region, especially Iraq and Turkey, and that his country’s full support for the project will continue.
The "Development Road" project includes a land road and a railway, extending from Iraq to Turkey and its ports, and starting from the port of Al-Faw in the Gulf of Basra, with a length of 1,200 kilometers inside Iraq, to be linked to the Turkish railway network.
Earlier Friday, the Diplomatic Forum began in its third edition in the state of Antalya in the presence of about 4,500 guests, including 19 heads of state and government, 73 ministers, and 57 international representatives from 147 countries.
Until Sunday, the Antalya Diplomatic Forum will discuss many global issues of concern to the Middle East, the Pacific region, Africa and Latin America, such as climate change, the food crisis, “space diplomacy”, as well as the Gaza issue.
