Congress Investigation Now Started, Obama & State Department Approved Hidden Arms Deal

Obama’s Last Second Act Is Now Under Investigation
It’s been a little over a month since the United States of America last saw former President Barack Obama as the Commander-in-Chief of the nation. The past month has seen plenty of executive orders from President Donald Trump, protests from liberals, and the usual Democratic opposition.
In the meantime, those protesting liberals post pictures of the former president and wish that he was still in office for a third term. They honestly believe that he has done nothing wrong as president, or they just look past every wrong idea. Either way, they’re about to get a wake up call.
Congressional lawmakers have announced that they will request an investigation of a nearly $420 million United States weapons sale to Kenya that was approved by the Obama administration in their very last day in office.
The sale, which happened to be approved by the State Department, was privately notified to Congress on January 19, the day before Trump was inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States. What it did was allow Kenya to buy 14 crop-duster-like planes that happen to be weaponized for missions against the terrorist group al-Shabaab.
Obama Allowed A Secret Arms Deal To Go Through
Naturally this deal went public after the inauguration. What it showed the people was that the Obama administration wasn’t afraid to pull a last second deal that would harm the American people.
A group of congressmen, led by Rep Ted Budd (R-NC), are currently questioning why the contract to create the planes was awarded to a major defense firm that has never made a plane like that before, over a smaller, disabled veteran-owned company out of North Carolina that makes the planes at a lower cost wasn’t thought of.
The contract was awarded to defense firm L3 Technologies, but they have never made the type of plane being requested before. Meanwhile, IOMAX USA Inc., located in Mooresville, N.C., could create those very same planes for $237 million. It’s considerably cheaper than the $418 million Obama approved.
Budd, speaking to Breitbart News via a phone interview, has his reasons on why it happened. “It looks like politics. Why are they sending it to someone that’s produced zero, for twice the price? This is inappropriate.” This is literally another example of the ravenous spending that the country experienced the past eight years.
Obama Isn’t A Stranger To Ravish Spending
Budd, accompanied by several other GOP congressmen, will request the non-partisan investigation. It’s non-partisan because there are also Democrats that are concerned about the deal. Georgia Democrat Sanford Bishop is also signing a letter being sent to the Kenyan ambassador to the U.S.
This investigation request comes after the members of Congress failed to figure out how the New York located L3 had received the “sole-source” primary contract. That meant there is only one known source for the equipment requested.
IOMAX, for their part, was unaware of the contract until the State Department publicly announced it after Trump was sworn in. Normally with a foreign military sale, an ally can notify and work with the Defense Security Cooperation Agency to request weapons.
After some details including working with a nation and price of the weapons and writing to an “implementing agency,” barring a State Department approval or denial of the sale, the DSCA would receive a four percent cut of the sale.
It’s why lawmakers suspect that there was politics involved, as they are suspicious that the implementing agency pushed the contract towards L3.
The State Department claimed that the Kenyan Ministry of Defense “conducted extensive market research,” but currently doesn’t have that research in their hands.
It’s questionable if Kenya did the research, as an aide said they initially requested MOOG to produce the planes. Somehow, that request was “clarified” to L3. The aide also said that it doesn’t make sense, considering that IOMAX began producing those planes back in 2009, and they have dropped over 2,000 bombs on al-Shabaab already.
Budd also said that he is watching out for jobs in North Carolina. IOMAX takes in roughly $1 billion a year in sales and has 115 in the district, with nearly half of them military veterans.
“Our first interest is to look out for jobs in the district. These are guy who are cutting sheet metal and doing rivets at the same time as those who are installing weaponized system…It’s a whole work force down there. It’s infuriating that they’d be cut out of a deal like this,” Budd said.
He also said that the current deal isn’t good for the Kenyans as well. Apparently the Kenyan Deputy Chief of Mission was “flabbergasted” they were paying almost $200 million more than required.
Obama Had Kenya Pay Nearly $200 Million More
While there was a 30-day notification period for Congress for a foreign military sale ended, the lawmakers can still stop the sale by passing a resolution of disapproval. Budd at the same time has introduced a joint resolution to halt the sale. Should it be adopted, it would be the first time that Congress has done so since 1986.
Congress has already done a lot of things to reverse some of Obama’s resolutions and orders. Their best one by far was when Congress voted to overturn one of Obama’s gun control measures. They effectively struck down his measure forbidding certain people from purchasing a gun.
Then again, Obama was always doing what he could to help out other people over the people of the United States. It was the reason that his IRS chief allowed illegal immigrants to steal other people’s social security numbers to be used for their tax returns. One million of them were stolen, and the IRS chief never notified those people that had theirs stolen.
