The earliest tropical depression on record in the eastern Pacific Ocean may develop this week and could impact communities from southern Mexico to Central America.
A tropical depression may form as early as late in the day on Monday but is more likely to form on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Hurricane season in the eastern Pacific Basin starts on May 15, but the development of the basin’s first tropical depression has never occurred before May 12 since reliable record keeping began in 1966.
Alma, which eventually became a hurricane, set the record for the earliest tropical depression when it developed on May 12, 1990.
“With water temperatures off of western Central America above normal and relatively low wind shear, conditions will be conducive for tropical development this week,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Steve Travis said.
Tropical Storm Arlene became the earliest named storm in the Atlantic Ocean on April the 27th

The whole island is a ticking time-bomb and she is ready to blow! Mag 4.5 earthquake near the Hekla volcano has Iceland experts worried

Iceland is a volcanic island sitting on top of the Atlantic ridge and is a ticking time-bomb, and Icelanders are constantly reminded of that.
Yesterday the farmers and summer cottage owners in the inland of south Iceland clearly felt a 4.5 magnitude earthquake originated in the domain of an active volcano.
One farmer in the area described the earthquake as if a truck hit her farm to a RUV reporter, the family clearly felt a single strong impact and they ran straight to the window to check on their neighbour, the volcano named Hekla.
According to measurements the current pressure in the magma chambers underneath Hekla volcano is greater than it was leading up to the last two eruptions in 1991 and 2000.
The pressure has been mounting for quite some time and there have been numerous predictions and speculations about a looming eruption.
The pressure clearly points to the volcano being ready to erupt but it's hard to say what the tipping point will be.
The earthquake yesterday doesn't have a direct link to the pressure under Hekla Volcano but evidently something is brewing under the crust of south Iceland judging by the pressure in the magma chamber and the number of tremors and earthquakes taking place there in the past months.

Temperatures of 46C + (115F) causing chaos in parts of Pakistan and most of India

Heatwaves have once again gripped parts of Rajasthan, with maximum temperatures settling above 45°C at several parts.
In fact, Churu recorded day maximum at 46.1°C on Saturday and was also the hottest city in the country.
Day maximums have been settling several notches above the normal average to the tune of 4-5 degrees.
The state capital of Jaipur also saw mercury reaching 43°C, again three degrees above normal that made the weather extremely hot.
According to Skymet Weather, hot and dry northwesterly winds have been blowing from the neighbouring state of Pakistan, which is already reeling under exceptionally high day temperatures. These winds have led to significant rise in the mercury across Rajasthan as well as over the rest parts of northwestern plains.
Further, weathermen do not predict any relief at least during the next 48 hours.
Till then, we can expect heatwave to severe heatwave to prevail as temperatures are likely to further increase marginally.
Thereafter by May 9, a fresh Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir will induce a cyclonic circulation or a trough over the plains.
This may lead to some pre-Monsoon activities in terms of scattered rains, thundershowers, thunderstorm or dust storm.
These activities will be instrumental in bringing down the mercury gradually.

Last year thousands died from the heat in India and Pakistan.

A late springtime blizzard in southeastern Colorado has brought staggering losses to ranchers as thousands of cattle died in the snow storm.
It’s not the cold which killed the cattle, they appear to have drowned from snow which had entered their lungs, according to a rancher
Seven foot high snow drifts buried cows and toppled acres of wheat crops in Prowers County and Baca County near the Kansas and Oklahoma borders, costing farmers millions of dollars.
There are no confirmed numbers yet, but it’s estimated as many as 10,000 cattle were killed in the rare spring storm.
After the storm dumped 30 inches of snow in some areas, the damage is compared to the blizzard of 2007, which was one of the worst snowstorms in state history.

The Colorado Farm Bureau has activated its disaster relief fund and they are seeking donations on a special PayPal website.
