    Gold touched a seven-week high as Asian and dollar markets plummeted ahead of the UK general election and the European Central Bank meeting later this week.
    The spot price of gold rose 0.8 percent to $ 1259.20 an ounce by 0805 GMT. Earlier in the session it hit its highest level since April 10 at $ 1289.67. The palladium record was the highest since September 11, 2014 at $ 850 an ounce, Silver recorded the best level since April 25 at $ 17.682 an ounce.
    Platinum rose 0.8 percent to $ 958.05, ending 29/43
