China's crude oil imports fall to a 8-month low

China's crude oil imports rose 3.4 percent in August from a year earlier, but fell to their lowest monthly levels since January, with some independent refineries shutting down longer-term maintenance amid a wave of inspections, data showed on Friday. Government to verify compliance with environmental standards.
China imported 33.98 million tons of crude in August, or 8 million barrels a day, the General Administration of Customs said on Friday. Imports in July were 8.18 million bpd.
Imports for the first eight months of the year increased 12.2 percent year-on-year to 281.05 million tonnes or 8.44 million bpd.
Data also showed China's refined fuel exports rose 24 percent to 4.6 million tonnes in August from a year earlier. Exports increased from 4.55 million tons in July, supported by higher export margins.
Refined fuel imports grew 35.1 percent in August year-on-year to 2.73 million tonnes.
Natural gas imports rose 69.5 percent year-on-year in August to 5.66 million tonnes, down from 5.75 million tonnes in July.
