(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Hundreds of Iraqis from the Sunni and Shia sects prayed together at noon on Friday (October 11th) at al-Khilani Mosque in central Baghdad in response to recent acts of terrorism, mosque imam Sheikh Hussein al-Muayyed said.
"The blows of al-Qaeda and extremists who promote sectarianism, sedition and sectarian fighting cannot divide or weaken the Iraqi people," al-Muayyed said in a short sermon after the unified prayers.
"Al-Qaeda has been using terrorism for a decade and yet Iraq is still standing on its feet, and is even making progress every day towards reconstruction, peace and democracy," he said.
Al-Qaeda "must realise it is doomed to failure", al-Muayyed said.
