    Gold prices fell on Tuesday, but remain close to a six-week high seen in the previous session as investors awaited a session to ratify the nomination of Jerome Powell as president of the Federal Reserve and the possibility of the Senate vote on tax reforms.
    Spot gold fell 0.1 percent to $ 1293.83 an ounce by 0739 GMT. At the previous session, the yellow metal touched its highest level since October 16 at $ 1229.13 an ounce.
    On other precious metals, spot silver rose 0.1 percent to $ 17.038 an ounce.
    Platinum rose 0.2 percent to $ 948.70 an ounce, while palladium dropped 0.4 percent to $ 1003 an ounce.
