Al-Abbadi's office warned of "the serious repercussions of this decision on the stability of the region and the world and the injustice it represents to the rights of the Palestinians, the Arab and Islamic world and other religions. Jerusalem is the title of coexistence between all religions and nations. No country has the right to legitimize the occupation, And to affect the legitimate rights of Palestine ".
The prime minister called on Washington to "reverse this unjust decision to stop a dangerous escalation leading to extremism and create an atmosphere conducive to terrorism and destabilizing peace and stability in the world."
In the same context, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry announced the recall of US Ambassador to Baghdad Douglas Silliman. "The State Department calls on the US ambassador to hand him a note of protest against the US president's decision on Jerusalem," ministry spokesman Ahmed Mahjoub said.
On the religious front, Supreme Leader Ali al-Sistani denounced the US president's decision.
"This decision is condemned and condemned, and it has offended the feelings of hundreds of millions of Arabs and Muslims, but it will not change the fact that Jerusalem is an occupied land that should return to the sovereignty of its Palestinian owners no matter how long," a statement quoted an official source in the office of the Supreme Religious Council as saying. "The nation's efforts must be united and united in this way," the source said.
