Royal Dutch Shell has announced an agreement with Japan's Itochu Corporation to sell its stake in Iraq's West Qurna 1 oil field.
"Itocho and Shell have reached an agreement to sell Shell's stake in the West Qurna 1 oil field and are currently working on all necessary approvals from the Iraqi government," the company's spokesman said, adding that details of the discussions were confidential on the commercial side.
West Qurna 1, run by Exxon Mobil, produces about 405,000 barrels per day at present.
