Merkel: Part of European companies will have to leave Iran
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Thursday that Germany would continue to respect the comprehensive joint action plan for Iran's nuclear program, while some European companies would be forced to leave Iran.
"For the agreement on Iran, it is certainly not ideal, but the other options are more unstable, so we will continue to respect this agreement," Merkel told a news conference after talks with Chinese Premier Li Ke Tsiang.
Merkel also pointed out that some European companies might have to leave Iran because of US sanctions, saying "the sanctions are likely to lead to the fact that some European companies will be forced ... to leave Iran."
