Trump: Things are going well for the summit with the North Korean leader

US President Donald Trump has said things are "going very well" toward a summit between him and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on June 12 in Singapore.
"Things are going very well, we are looking forward to June 12 in Singapore, it's not changed," Trump said during a meeting at the White House with an American detainee released by Venezuela earlier Saturday.
"There are meetings going on now as we talk," he said. "I think there is a lot of goodwill."
Trump surprised the world last Thursday, announcing the cancellation of the historic summit between him and Kim. But after less than 24 hours, the US president returned and announced that the meeting was still possible "very productive talks with North Korea for the summit."
North Korea said its leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Moon Jay-en pledged during their surprise summit in the demilitarized zone between the two countries on Saturday to hold "frequent meetings in the future", referring to Kim's "firm" desire to meet Trump.
The two leaders reaffirmed their position by making joint efforts to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula. "
