US official: Iraq's replacement of American tanks in Russia strips Washington of the tools of influence
An American newspaper explained why the Iraqi army replaced the American Abrams tanks with Russian T-90 tanks.
According to the "Military Times," the Iraqi army abandons American tanks for geopolitical reasons. "
For its part, the newspaper warned that the delivery of Russian tanks to Iraq could allow Russia to extend its influence to the region.
American researcher James Phillips believes that replacing Iraq with American tanks in Russian "strips the United States of the tools of influence and increases the capabilities of Baghdad."
In total, the United States has delivered about 140 Abrams tanks to Iraq in the last few years.
The media have noticed that the Abrams tanks did not appear in Iraq in good shape.
