The Security Council on Thursday failed to agree on any reaction to the escalation of fighting and the faltering position in southwestern Syria during closed-door consultations.
"There is no press release because they are focused on stopping the fighting and we are focusing on fighting terrorists," Russia's UN envoy Vasily Nibenzia told reporters after a meeting on Thursday.
"Russia agrees with other members of the Council on the need for humanitarian aid, but asks how many civilians need assistance," he said.
Sweden's UN envoy Olof Scog called for emergency consultations with Kuwait and said he expected a follow-up and perhaps a public meeting focused on the implementation of a February resolution for a ceasefire and aid access.

The Security Council on Thursday failed to agree on any reaction to the escalation of fighting and the faltering position in southwestern Syria during closed-door consultations.
