    Turkish authorities believe that Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who disappeared four days ago after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, was killed inside the consulate, Turkish sources said on Saturday.

    The source revealed that "a security delegation composed of Saudi investigators arrived Saturday to Istanbul at the request of the Saudi side and the consent of the Turkish side brotherly to participate in the investigations into the disappearance of the Saudi citizen Jamal Khashoggi." 
    The Saudi consul-general told Reuters on Saturday that his country was helping to search for Khashoggi and denied his abduction. 
    Khashoggi has lived in exile in Washington over the past year for fear of retaliation for his views. The consulate entered on Tuesday for documents for his next marriage, according to his fiancée, who was waiting outside.Khashoggi has since disappeared. 
    Since then, the Turkish and Saudi authorities have presented two conflicting accounts of Khashoggi's disappearance as Ankara said there was no evidence he had left the consulate, while Riyadh said he had left the same day. 
    A US State Department official said the United States was seeking more information. 
    "We are not in a position to confirm these reports, but we are following them closely," the official said. 
    A group of 15 Saudis, including some officials, arrived in Istanbul on two planes and entered the consulate on the same day Khashoggi was there and then left Turkey, a Turkish security source told Reuters. 
    The Turkish source added that Turkish officials are trying to identify these persons.

    On Thursday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the Saudi ambassador to Ankara to inquire about the fate of Saudi journalist and writer Jamal Khashoggi, who disappeared after visiting his consulate in Istanbul. 
    The developments came after Istanbul's public prosecutor's office announced earlier Saturday that an official investigation into Khashoggi's disappearance had been underway since Tuesday (October 2nd) when the Saudi consulate entered. 
    The Saudi journalist disappeared after entering the headquarters of his consulate in Istanbul, Turkey last Tuesday and lost contact with him after that. 
    "I do not know whether he is inside or taking him somewhere else," Khatib Khashoggi said at the time.

    Khashoggi was the editor-in-chief of Saudi Arabia's Al-Watan newspaper. He also served as adviser to Turki al-Faisal, the former Saudi ambassador to Washington, but left the country after Mohammed bin Salman was crown prince.

    The Saudi consul in Istanbul, Turkey, Mohammed al-Otaibi, said that his country does not accept any outside interference in the case of the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, or any attempts to politicize it.

    Turkey reveals important information about Khashoggi's abduction

    Turkish security sources said Saturday that 15 Saudis, including officials, arrived in Istanbul aboard two planes and were present at the Saudi consulate in the presence of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
    The officials later returned to their countries of origin, the sources said. 
    Khashoggi did not leave the Saudi consulate after entering the country to end a marriage-related treatment.
