Turkish authorities believe that Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who disappeared four days ago after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, was killed inside the consulate, Turkish sources said on Saturday.

"The initial assessment of the Turkish police is that Mr. Khashoggi was killed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul," one source told Reuters. We believe the killing was deliberate and that the body was taken out of the consulate. "
The two sources did not say how they believed the killing had taken place.
An official source at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on Sunday denied the killing of Khashoggi inside the consulate.
"These accusations are baseless," the source said in a statement.
The source questioned that "these statements are issued by Turkish officials who are familiar or authorized to declare the subject."
The source revealed that "a security delegation composed of Saudi investigators arrived Saturday to Istanbul at the request of the Saudi side and the consent of the Turkish side brotherly to participate in the investigations into the disappearance of the Saudi citizen Jamal Khashoggi."
The Saudi consul-general told Reuters on Saturday that his country was helping to search for Khashoggi and denied his abduction.
Khashoggi has lived in exile in Washington over the past year for fear of retaliation for his views. The consulate entered on Tuesday for documents for his next marriage, according to his fiancée, who was waiting outside.Khashoggi has since disappeared.
Since then, the Turkish and Saudi authorities have presented two conflicting accounts of Khashoggi's disappearance as Ankara said there was no evidence he had left the consulate, while Riyadh said he had left the same day.
A US State Department official said the United States was seeking more information.
"We are not in a position to confirm these reports, but we are following them closely," the official said.
A group of 15 Saudis, including some officials, arrived in Istanbul on two planes and entered the consulate on the same day Khashoggi was there and then left Turkey, a Turkish security source told Reuters.
The Turkish source added that Turkish officials are trying to identify these persons.

Fifteen Saudis entered their consulate in Istanbul on Saturday, the official Anatolia news agency reported, citing the presence of Saudi opposition journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Anatolia quoted security sources as confirming that Khashoggi did not leave the Saudi consulate in Istanbul after entering to end the treatment.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Turkey's Justice and Development party, Omar Glik, announced that Ankara would reveal the fate of Khashoggi and the person responsible for his disappearance after visiting his consulate in Istanbul.
"The status and fate of Saudi journalist Khashoggi and the person responsible for his disappearance will be revealed," Glik told a news conference on Saturday after a consultative meeting of the party in Ankara.
"Turkey, as a safe country, pays close attention to the disappearance of journalist Khashoggi," the party spokesman said.
On Thursday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the Saudi ambassador to Ankara to inquire about the fate of Saudi journalist and writer Jamal Khashoggi, who disappeared after visiting his consulate in Istanbul.
The developments came after Istanbul's public prosecutor's office announced earlier Saturday that an official investigation into Khashoggi's disappearance had been underway since Tuesday (October 2nd) when the Saudi consulate entered.
The Saudi journalist disappeared after entering the headquarters of his consulate in Istanbul, Turkey last Tuesday and lost contact with him after that.
"I do not know whether he is inside or taking him somewhere else," Khatib Khashoggi said at the time.
The Turkish and Saudi authorities have given conflicting accounts of Khashoggi's whereabouts, which no one has seen since he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalan said information available to Ankara indicated that Khashoggi was still inside the consulate, where Saudi officials said he was not there and was not being held there.
Khashoggi was the editor-in-chief of Saudi Arabia's Al-Watan newspaper. He also served as adviser to Turki al-Faisal, the former Saudi ambassador to Washington, but left the country after Mohammed bin Salman was crown prince.
The Saudi opposition journalist has been living in the United States for more than a year and has since written articles in the Washington Post criticizing Saudi policies toward Qatar and Canada, the war in Yemen and dealing with the media and activists.

Saudi Arabia: Khashoggi is our citizen and we do not accept any interference in the matter
The Saudi consul in Istanbul, Turkey, Mohammed al-Otaibi, said that his country does not accept any outside interference in the case of the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, or any attempts to politicize it.
Al-Otaibi said in an interview with Reuters,   "As a Saudi citizen, the Kingdom does not accept that any one interferes in the affairs of its citizens or increases their concern for them."
He added: "Saudi Arabia rejects any attempts by any country or entity to politicize the disappearance of Gamal before the emergence of official Saudi information on the details of his disappearance."
The Saudi diplomat stressed that what was reported in the media about the existence of Jamal Khashoggi inside the consulate is absolutely untrue.

Turkey reveals important information about Khashoggi's abduction

Turkish security sources said Saturday that 15 Saudis, including officials, arrived in Istanbul aboard two planes and were present at the Saudi consulate in the presence of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
The officials later returned to their countries of origin, the sources said.
Khashoggi did not leave the Saudi consulate after entering the country to end a marriage-related treatment.
She pointed out that the Turkish security continues its investigations into the disappearance of the Saudi journalist, under the instructions of the Istanbul Prosecutor General.
She confirmed that the security authorities concerned examined all records related to the entry and exit operations of the Saudi consulate during the period between the entry of Khashoggi to the consulate and to inform his letter about his disappearance.
Earlier in the day, the Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office announced on Saturday an investigation into Khashoggi's disappearance.
Sources in the Public Prosecutor's Office told Anatolia that the Istanbul prosecutor opened the investigation on October 2, the day Khashoggi entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
Last Wednesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the Saudi ambassador to Ankara, Walid bin Abdul Karim al-Khuraiji, to inquire about Khashoggi's situation.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalan said on Wednesday that the information so far reported Khashoggi's presence at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, while the consulate said for its part that "left" the consulate building after ending his own treatment.
