Several Iranian media outlets on Thursday highlighted the participation of the commander of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards, General Qassem Soleimani, at a memorial ceremony for the head of the regime's identification complex, Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, who died on Monday.
The news agency Tasnim, the information arm of the Revolutionary Guard, published a picture of General Qassem Soleimani, who is present at a funeral ceremony attended by senior officials and held by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Thursday morning, in his office in Tehran.
"General Qassem Soleimani is taking part in a memorial service for the late Hashemi Shahroudi," the agency said.
This comes after the international and Israeli media reported the news of his death in the Israeli attack, the day before yesterday, which targeted the Syrian capital Damascus.
On Tuesday evening, Israel fired rockets at locations near Damascus, state media reported, while the Israeli army said it had intercepted an anti-aircraft missile fired from Syria.
In the past, Israel launched bombardments in Syria targeting military installations of the Assad regime, militias and Iranian forces in Syria, as well as targeting military positions of the Lebanese Hezbollah.
