Zarif: My resignation was an alert for the return of the Foreign Ministry to its legal status
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in response to the resignation of diplomats and foreign ministry directors in support of him to continue his duties in the ministry. I hope that my resignation will be an indication of the return of the Foreign Ministry to its legal position in foreign relations.
"I assure all my dear brothers and sisters at the Foreign Ministry and their representatives to follow up their responsibilities to defend the country with strength and rigor and to avoid such measures," the official IRNA news agency quoted Zarif as saying.
"My service was very proud of me," he said, expressing the hope that the resignation would be an indication of the State Department's return to its legal status in foreign relations.
