Mukhtar al-Moussawi said in an interview with Alsumaria News that "Iraq has historical relations, economic and geographical deep with the Islamic Republic, therefore, the visit of Abdul Mahdi to Iran will have significant positive returns and important for the two countries."

"The visit is a message and a clear signal to America and Saudi Arabia that Iraq will not abandon its allies who stood with it in the war against Da'ash, where Iraq was fighting alone against this blind terrorism and did not stand with it except the Islamic Republic." 

Moussawi pointed out that "all American pressure and sanctions and all the temptations and papers offered by Saudi Arabia to keep Iraq away from its Iranian ally has failed and will not achieve any goals, because Iraq will not abandon its allies."
