The Federal Supreme Court, on Tuesday, that the legal status of women is equal to men in the membership of the House of Representatives, pointing out that the victory of a woman in an electoral list of votes does not prevent the existence of another through (quota).
"The Federal Supreme Court continues to secure the political rights of women through its judgments, including its ruling (No. 8 / Federal / 2019)," court spokesman Iyas Al-Samouk said in a statement received by Mawazine News.
"The court confirmed that the presence of a woman who won the elections in favor of her votes on the electoral list does not prevent the presence of another woman came by securing the quota of women next to her (quota)."
He explained, "The court found that the Constitution and the law does not prevent the presence of two women in the list of lists and at the same time does not deprive the list of rights in two seats in the House of Representatives occupied by two women."
He continued, "The Federal Supreme Court stressed that the legal status of women MPs is fully equal to the legal status of male MPs, and they have the same rights and obligations under Article (14) of the Constitution."
