The Legal Committee of the House of Representatives voted on 45 articles in the draft law on the elections of the House of Representatives, pointing out that only five articles are still under discussion, and while stressing that holding elections according to multiple constituencies needs more than two years, first deputy speaker of parliament Hassan Karim al-Kaabi directed the need to reach a fair and easy-to-implement bill, capable of meeting the aspirations of the masses with the right demands. Committee member Hassan Fassad Al-Janabi told Al-Sabah: "The parliamentary law ended the discussion of 45 articles and voted on it, while the vote on only 5 remaining articles of this law was postponed in preparation for its submission to parliament," stressing that "the elections will be in accordance with the successive constituencies and by 100 percent for the highest votes, and these are two basic requirements in this law." Hassan Kareem al-Kaabi, a member of parliament's presidency, called on the heads of political blocs on Tuesday to resolve proposals from various blocs regarding the electoral law, stressing the need to reach a fair and easy-to-implement bill capable of meeting the aspirations of the masses with the right demands. For his part, committee member Andy Abbas, in an interview, said that "the parliamentary law has begun to present the latest version of the new electoral law and will be voted on within the committee, and then presented formally before parliament in the next session," pointing to the continuation of discussions to put forward all opinions and proposals prepared by the parliamentary committee."
