Basra Oil Company announced the completion of 6 out of 8 tanks in the Al-Fao warehouse as part of a ministerial plan to increase the storage capacity of warehouses in Iraq and raise the export capacity.
A statement of the company, which was received by Mawazine News, said, "The Authority's Project Management Department is constructing these tanks with a capacity of 58,000 m3 each, and that this project is being implemented by Ibn Majid Contracting Company of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals in cooperation with the Italian company Parisia."
He added that "the projects committee in the company supervises the work of the project of establishing, preparing, transporting and installing these tanks in the project that aims to increase the storage and export capacity of the company, and that the work is progressing significantly and the achievement rates have reached good levels and that the completion is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2020."
He continued, "The project supplies storage capacity up to 500 thousand cubic meters, while he indicated the completion of 6 tanks out of eight, while the remaining two are expected to be completed by the end of this year. Two methods have been used for the first time in Iraq, the first is the method of deep mixing with equipment Huge works on drilling the ground and injecting cement and water with a pressure of 300 bars. It will be mixed with the soil of the earth to make 631 columns with a diameter of 1 m on which to base the reservoir base. "
He continued, "The other way is to raise the roofs of floating tanks in the compressed air method after the roof is completely built while on the ground. This method is characterized by shortening the working time by 50% and implementing it with high quality specifications, and by providing them with much higher safety conditions than if implemented in the traditional way."
He concluded by saying that "the project is integrated and is considered as a mini warehouse inside the Al-Fao oil depot, where the project also included the installation of 4 auxiliary pumps, a cathodic protection system, a control system, an electrical system and a fire system that is estimated to be the total length of the pipeline group that is 2 km, as well as a network of pipes in various diameters of a length of approximately 4 km."
