, The Economic and Investment Committee announced in the House of Representatives, on Monday, that the government has reduced import amounts to support the local Iraqi product.
The head of the committee, Ahmed Salim Al-Kinani, stated that "the government has cut a lot of the amounts that were earmarked for import to support national production."
Al-Kanani added, "Supporting national production and granting loans to industrialists are among the committee's priorities," noting that "the central bank was one of its initiatives to support industrial projects with an interest of up to 3 percent," stressing that "it has invested to buy production lines from industrialized countries."
Al-Kinani added, "The committee suggested that the government allocate funds (in the public budget) to return the stalled and destroyed factories of the Ministry of Industry, especially those producing materials that are used in the daily consumption of the citizen, while the rest of those factories are qualified from the profits achieved by the first group."
