    The "Motor Sech" plant for the manufacture of aircraft engines is witnessing a confrontation between Chinese investors, who own a controlling stake in the Ukrainian plant, and the Kiev authorities, who want to nationalize the plant.
    Chinese investors are demanding the Ukrainian authorities pay $ 3.6 billion, and they filed a lawsuit in the International Court of Arbitration against Kiev, amid indications that Washington is behind the collapse of the deal between Chinese investors and Kiev.
    In 2016, Chinese investors acquired 56% of the shares of "Motor Seach", and in the following year the Ukrainian Security Department stopped the deal after it became known that "Motor Seach" and the Chinese investors intend to build a similar factory in China.
    The Ukrainian authorities opened a criminal case, as the authorities suspected a plot to transfer the assets and production lines of "Motor Sech" outside Ukraine, and in the spring of 2018, the Ukrainian court confiscated 56% of the company's shares.
    For its part, Beijing considered that Kiev violated international laws after the seizure of shares, and Chinese investors are still not yet able to manage "Motor Sech".
    To settle the issue, the Chinese agreed to cede 25% of the shares of "Motor Seach" to the DCH Group, which is based in the Ukrainian city of Kharkov, but the Ukraine's Antitrust Committee also stopped this deal.
    As a result of this situation, Chinese investors are demanding the Ukrainian authorities to pay about $ 3.5 billion in compensation for the losses they incurred as a result of the Ukrainian authorities' blocking the deal.
    For its part, Kiev says it wants to nationalize the plant and protect its national interests and strategic assets, but it seems further than that. In August 2020, then US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, expressed Washington's concern about China's attempts to buy a factory. Motor Sesh ”.
    A year earlier, in 2019, then-US National Security Adviser John Bolton visited Ukraine and held several meetings, in which the MotorSch case was also discussed.
    Media interpreted this as Kiev wants to ban the sale of the plant to the Chinese in exchange for offering it to the Americans, for fear of cutting US military aid to Ukraine.
