The Federal Integrity Commission announced, on Wednesday, the issuance of a 15-year prison sentence for the former director of the Agricultural Bank - Al-Amara Branch on charges of embezzlement, explaining that the ruling included obligating the convict to return the misappropriated amount.

The department clarified that "the judgment issued in accordance with the provisions of Article (316) of the Penal Code came against the background of disbursing loans contrary to the law and without the knowledge and consent of the borrowers."
She added that the court, after reviewing the evidence obtained in the case and the statements of witnesses and the legal representative of the Agricultural Bank, reached a conclusion: Fully convinced of the negligence of the convicted person, so I decided to sentence him to 15 years imprisonment and return the embezzled sum in solidarity with other accused, dispersing their cases. And that is based on the requirements of the ruling article.
In mid-December, the Commission announced the issuance of four imprisonment decisions for the former director of the Agricultural Cooperative Bank - Maysan Branch, totaling 12 years, on the grounds that he disbursed loans in contravention of the law.
