The Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee disclosed, on Friday, the completion rates of projects that were referred to the private sector.
A member of the committee, Nada Shaker, according to the official agency, said, "The President of the Investment Authority confirmed that many projects were referred to the private sector, and obtained leave, land and customs exemption privileges, but without there being any real achievement," noting that " Most of the projects referred to this sector to the sector range from zero to 35% only, although the government gives all facilities to the private sector, including land, customs exemption, facilitating routine transactions and others.
Shaker added, "All countries of the world are making great achievements in the private sector due to the presence of a good government negotiator and observer, and that there are huge projects that have been assigned to the private sector and this sector has not achieved any results because implementation is almost non-existent."
And she continued, "It seems that projects are being taken up by influential people in the government or political parties, and they obtain concessions without implementation." Schools, hospitals, housing units and factories. "
She explained, "The housing complexes that are completed by the private sector are few, and their prices are not commensurate with the price of the land that the private sector took for free."
Shaker stressed, "The importance of the government obtaining privileges such as building schools or hospitals or cladding roads in exchange for the facilities it provides to the private sector, including the granting of land parcels, customs exemptions and other government concessions that must be matched with concessions from the private sector."
