    The Ministry of Electricity announced, on Friday, that Iraq will be a corridor of exported energy, stressing that the tripartite electrical interconnection project (Iraqi, Jordanian, Egyptian) will be a regional starting point for the eight electrical interconnection.
    The ministry said in a statement seen by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity for Production Affairs, Adel Karim, received in his office at the ministry's headquarters the Jordanian ambassador to Iraq, Montaser Al-Zoubi, and they discussed the electrical connection project between Iraq and the Kingdom of Jordan."
    She added, "The meeting dealt with a number of important details that crystallized on the Iraqi-Jordanian electrical interconnection agreement, under the contract signed in September 2020, which includes linking the electricity network and the transmission of electrical energy between the two countries for a completion period of 26 months, implemented by General Electric, and depends on the energy exchange between The two sides and the construction of a line (Risha - Qaim) and the installation of the Al-Qaim transformer station 400 (kV) with a length of 300 km," noting that "Iraq will be supplied, as a first stage, with 150 megawatts, up to 960 megawatts."
    And she added, "The two parties discussed supporting this strategic project by reviewing the accomplished stages of preparing the energy exchange lines between the two countries, the completion rate of the new Al-Qaim transformational station and the electrical interconnection line connecting Anbar Governorate," noting that "the survey of the lines' paths and soil examination is currently being expedited." To ensure that they are free of any military remnants, identify the connection points, and remove the obstacles that stand in the way of implementation.
    The ministry explained that "this project is the first building block of the Iraqi-Jordanian-Egyptian tripartite linkage project and a regional starting point for the eight electrical linkage through the exchange of benefit between countries and making it a corridor for the transmission of energy," noting that "it is not a consumer project, but rather has an economic benefit for Iraq, which will be a corridor for exported energy." and needy, and will achieve the necessary flexibility and reliability of the electrical network.
    The ministry stated that "the meeting included a phone call between the Undersecretary and Jordanian Energy Minister Hala Zawati to discuss accelerating the achievement," explaining that "the two parties agreed to exchange visits for the benefit of the Iraqi and Jordanian countries, as the participating countries will cooperate in this project to make it a success according to the highest international standards in energy transfer."
