    Earth News/ The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, called today, Monday, to amend the investment law as soon as possible and to follow up on investment companies.
    The media office of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament stated in a statement received by Earth News that "Al-Zamili received in his office today, the head of the Investment Authority, Suha Daoud Najjar," noting that "obstacles were discussed and problems facing the investment process and mechanisms for advancement were discussed."
    Al-Zamili explained, according to the statement, that "the investment sector is currently one of the best global economic sectors, and countries attach the utmost importance to advancing their economy," noting that "investment is the key to achieving sustainable development."
    Al-Zamili stressed the need to “make the necessary updates to the investment law,” calling on the authority to “start preparing a draft of the amendments and coordinate with the competent parliamentary committees.”
    Al-Zamili called on the authority to “prepare a strategy and a clear vision for the development of this important sector in a way that contributes to facilitating the investor’s entry and work inside the country, and avoiding all bureaucratic procedures and complications in the issue of granting licenses, land ownership, issuing licenses and benefiting from the experiences of successful investment countries,” stressing the need to “follow up on Companies operating in Iraq and the withdrawal of licenses for lagging projects from them.”
    For her part, the head of the Investment Authority, Suha Daoud Najjar, confirmed that “the commission is in the process of completing a new investment map that includes all the governorates of Iraq,” noting “to move towards activating coordination with the authorities related to the investment project with the aim of expediting approvals, granting licenses and allocating land.”
