The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Moussa, said, "Great preparations are being made by the ministry for the summer season, and this has appeared in the form of real and on-the-ground achievements."
Musa added, "The (Baghdad - Haditha) line entered service two days ago, and a day later the turn came on the (Al-Rumaila - Khor Al-Zubayr) line, and soon it will enter the (Al-Khayrat Al-Haidariah) line, and after it the (Baquba - south Diyala) line."
He pointed out, "dozens of carrier lines that will enter service successively, and they are large strategic lines that connect the governorates and achieve stability and address low power and fluctuation."
And Moussa indicated, "The plans also included adding new generating capacities," noting that "the Musayyib station is fully ready today, as is the case for the Al-Quds, Al-Rumaila, Al-Khayrat, Al-Haidaria, Al-Haritha and Al-Majidiya stations."
He explained, "The supposed date for completing the preparations is on the 15th of this month, adding 4,000 megawatts to the service."
Moussa stressed, "The transmission lines will discharge the loads, in addition to great efforts in rehabilitating the distribution sector and the electrical network in proportion to the electrification of peripheral areas, villages and irregular areas as consumers."
He stated, "This came after a permanent operations room, large field tours, and an examination of the scale of the problem, and in light of the clear support of the Council of Ministers by providing funds to complete what we started."
Moussa continues, "The Iranian side understood our position and promised to release adequate and sufficient quantities of gas for the power stations," adding that "all the requirements of our work will be met in order to provide a good summer to the citizen."
He stressed, "An Iraqi government delegation visited Iran earlier and submitted all its payments regarding the payment of dues, and this visit witnessed the processing of the agreements signed between the two countries."
And Moussa added, "The ministry has great preparations to address any defect that may affect the network as temperatures rise and loads increase."
And he demanded, “The House of Representatives, after the great understanding it showed about our need for funds, expedite the passage of the Food Security Law, which includes providing sums for the payment of gas dues.”
Moussa added, "The ministry's preparations were early, and it seeks to address all problems and not repeat what happened in the past."
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi has made more than one visit to the Ministry of Electricity over the past weeks with the aim of reviewing summer preparations, and directed to take a number of measures that would secure more operating hours than the situation in the past.
