    Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Planning counted requests to confirm the conformity of vehicles within 18 months .
    A statement by the ministry stated, "The Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control received about 2550 requests from importers to support conformity for new imported vehicles, since the date of the entry into force of the Iraqi Standard 572 for the examination and evaluation of conformity for vehicles, at the beginning of last year 2021, until the end of the first half of this year 2022. ”
    The official spokesman for the ministry, Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi, said that "the number of cars that conformed to the specification amounted to 17,988," noting that "284 applications were rejected that did not meet the required conditions ."
    He added, "The Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control sends conformity confirmation letters for new imported vehicles, with the chassis numbers of these vehicles attached to the General Company for Iraqi Fairs and Commercial Services at the Ministry of Trade for the purpose of granting a license to import conforming vehicles, as well as informing the General Authority of Customs in the Ministry of Commerce." The financial system to take the necessary action by them when the vehicles arrive at the border crossings .”
    He explained, "The conformity confirmation service is conducted entirely electronically, through the electronic platform of the device, and in cooperation with the Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO)" , noting that "the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control will begin during the month of August next to assess the conformity of imported motorcycles, as well as grant conformity approval for vehicles Locally produced after completing the procedures for approving the laboratory specification and studying its certificate of conformity .
    He continued, "The used vehicles, which are imported, will also be subject to granting a conformity approval, after completing the preparation of the specification for the examination and evaluation of conformity with it ."
