The President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, received today, Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Iraq, Mr. Cui Wei.
At the beginning of the meeting, the ambassador delivered a written message from Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Barham Salih, related to the solid bilateral relations that unite the two countries and work to strengthen them in various fields in a manner that achieves the common interests of the two friendly peoples, while the President conveyed the Chinese ambassador his greetings and appreciation. President Barham Salih expressed his condolences for the tragic earthquake that hit the Chinese province of Sichuan, which resulted in casualties, injuries and missing persons.
During the meeting, they discussed the historical relations between the two countries, and the importance of expanding the horizons of joint cooperation in the economic, commercial and industrial fields for the benefit of the two peoples, as well as enhancing cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Cui Wei affirmed his country's commitment to supporting security and stability in Iraq, supporting dialogue to address political issues, and enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
