Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Planning identified the unemployment rate in Iraq, and confirmed that it is higher among women compared to males.
"The unemployment rate in Iraq, according to the survey carried out by the Central Statistical Organization in cooperation with the International Labor Organization in 2021, amounted to 16.5 percent of the total economically active population aged 15 to 64," said the ministry's spokesman, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi.
He added, "This percentage is higher for women by more than 25 percent compared to males, which ranges between 11-12 percent," attributing the reason for recording this percentage to "the well-known social conditions in Iraq."
He continued, "The ministry is working today to translate what was included in the government's ministerial curriculum, which focused on the issue of addressing unemployment and providing job opportunities through several tracks," noting that "supporting and empowering the private sector to be able to achieve partnership with the government sector and provide job opportunities falls within this framework." Orientation".
And that "there are also efforts to restart lagging projects that can provide job opportunities, as well as the implementation of development projects that contribute to achieving services and providing suitable job opportunities."
