Parliamentary circles reported, on Monday, that Parliament is awaiting the government’s vote on a new amendment to the salary scale for employees, and then referring it to the House of Representatives, in a project that may go towards redressing thousands of employees.
A member of the Finance Committee, Jamal Cougar, said in a statement reported by the official newspaper and seen by "Al-Iqtisad News" that "so far, such a draft has not reached Parliament regarding the salary scale, but we view this issue as a necessity."
Cougar added, "All countries of the world are reconsidering the salary scale with the change in the social and economic conditions of the citizen and the state and in accordance with the social and economic status of the individual."
He pointed out that "the state stopped the process of reviewing and reconsidering the salary scale for many years, and there are many disadvantaged segments that should be paid attention to," explaining that "there is a disparity in salaries for the same category between ministries, despite the similarity of working hours and academic level, so it should be considered with equality for all.”
