Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Industry and Minerals clarified its technical and legal measures to prevent and combat industrial and commercial fraud in cooperation with the security authorities, while stressing the need to form a consumer protection council so that the law takes its role in the economic package.
The Ministry's media center said, in a statement to the official news agency, followed by Mawazine News, that "there is a set of laws and legislation concerned with the issue of industrial fraud, including public health laws, quarantine, the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control, trademarks, examination procedures, and others, which it takes upon itself Combating industrial and commercial fraud.
He added, "The ministry's role in this aspect emerged through adopting the issuance of Consumer Protection Law No. 1 of 2010, through which the work of the concerned authorities is directed in accordance with the laws on issues of consumer protection and combating industrial and commercial fraud."
He stressed, "The need to form a Consumer Protection Council so that the law takes its role in the economic package that regulates the movement of imported and locally manufactured products in the markets through the survival of the fittest and conforming to specifications, to protect the health and safety of the Iraqi citizen, and to enhance the market share of the national product."
He pointed out, "The ministry is coordinating with the security agencies affiliated with the Ministry of Interior, such as the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Economic Crime, and the rest of the security agencies, in the event that any violations are caught or flagged, in addition to the procedures received from the courts concerned with the matter as far as the matter relates to the ministry's technical responsibilities."
