The representative of the medical industries and medical supplies sector at the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Fadi Al-Atrash, announced on Thursday that Jordan covers 10 percent of the size of the Iraqi market in terms of human medicines.
Al-Atrash said in a press statement reported by his country's media today, on the sidelines of his participation in the private sector delegation currently visiting Iraq, that pharmaceutical products and pharmaceuticals are among the most prominent Jordanian exports to the Iraqi market, adding that they amounted to nearly $100 million during the past year 2022.
According to the spokesman, the pharmaceutical forms exported to the Iraqi market vary between pills, capsules, syrups, ointments, drops, sprays, intravenous injections and many other items that meet Iraq's needs for medicines.
Al-Atrash also indicated that Jordanian medicines enjoy a very high reputation and great competitiveness in the Iraqi market, and have proven their effectiveness and safety, and have won the confidence of the medical sector and the Iraqi citizen.
And he added that Iraq is one of the first countries in the region to open its markets to Jordanian medicine, and most Jordanian pharmaceutical companies participate in government bids, in addition to their presence in the private sector through offices and scientific laboratories.
The spokesman noted the existence of continuous and joint cooperation between the General Authority for Food and Drug and the Iraqi Ministry of Health, including organizing workshops, training and holding joint scientific courses.
Al-Atrash expressed his hope for continued trade cooperation between Jordan and Iraq, accelerating the registration of Jordanian medicine in the Iraqi market, and facilitating the flow of land and air freight between the two countries.
