Foreign Minister: We will continue to work with Washington to build our economy

Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein held important discussions with officials in the US administration, and stressed during his leadership of the high government delegation visiting Washington that "we have no problems with the American side, and we will continue to work with Washington to build our economy."
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, and his accompanying delegation met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, yesterday, Thursday, and during the meeting, they exchanged common views on the most important issues related to bilateral relations.
Hussein praised, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United States’ support for Iraq, in a continuous manner in the fight against the terrorist gangs of “ISIS”, stressing the importance of benefiting from the experiences of the United States in various fields, especially the investment sectors, and exchanging vital cooperation in developing monetary and financial policy, pointing to the importance of work The joint goal is to build, develop and integrate Iraq's economy in the region, noting the mutual support and cooperation with major American companies at various levels.
In turn, Blinken stressed, according to the statement, the need to strengthen bilateral relations in light of the joint coordination, expressing the United States' willingness to cooperate and achieve the desired progress in the joint relations, pointing out that the meeting with the Iraqi delegation came at an important moment, to push the vitality of the Iraqi economy and enhance the envisaged integration and integration of it. With the economies of the region and focusing on energy and electricity files, to make a qualitative difference in the daily life of the Iraqi people, describing that all of the above is based on the economic aspect of the strategic agreement between the two countries.
After the meeting, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein held a joint press conference with his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, and Hussein said, "We thank the United States for its support for Iraq in its war against (ISIS)," stressing that "we will continue to work together on the basis of building our economy."
In turn, Blinken said: "We are working to strengthen the Iraqi economy and reintegrate it into the region, and this comes within the framework of the strategic framework agreement that connects the two countries," noting, "Now we are focusing very intensively on the economic dimension of that agreement."
He pointed out that "US President Joe Biden had a very good conversation with Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani a few days ago," stressing, "Moving forward with the prime minister to strengthen the strategic partnership that unites Iraq and the United States."
In a televised interview from Washington, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed that “the United States of America wants to help Iraq solve its problems,” pointing to “the good relationship between the two countries.” He added that “there is no problem between the United States and Iraq,” stressing that “all Parties in the United States want to help Iraq and support its economy ».
Yesterday, Friday, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with the US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate Affairs, former Secretary of State John Kerry.
A statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "Hussein reviewed during the meeting Iraq's efforts in the field of environmental protection and climate change within Iraq's firm commitment to interaction and implementation of the outcomes of global conferences on climate change and combating desertification and other related requirements, which represent an utmost necessity for the Iraqi government to face the challenges of climate change."
He continued, "Iraq presented a draft memorandum of understanding with the US side in the field of environmental protection, as well as presenting special projects in the field of environment, climate change and combating desertification."
In turn, Kerry praised "Iraq's efforts in this field," stressing "the readiness of the American side to fully cooperate with Iraq and provide possible assistance within this framework."
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, said in a statement: “Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his accompanying delegation met yesterday, Friday, Deputy US Treasury Secretary Wali Adeyo and Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Elizabeth and senior ministry officials concerned with Iraq and the Middle East.” Pointing out that «during the meeting, issues of common interest and bilateral cooperation between the two countries were discussed».
