On Monday, the Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, announced the provision of facilities to drug producers, indicating that this came with the follow-up of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani.
Al-Hasnawi said, "The government team represented by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, the Prime Minister's Office, and the advanced cadre in the Ministry of Health held a meeting for producers of medicines, medical supplies, and medical devices, in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Finance," noting that "the primary goal of the meeting is to provide all facilities for producers of medicines, supplies, or devices." Nationalization and localization of the pharmaceutical industry.
He added, "These facilities are related, starting with permits to open factories, giving final permits and customs facilities by entering raw materials and contracting with the Ministry of Health in terms of prices and in terms of purchasing the national product, in addition to that any request or proposal submitted for the development of this industry will be taken into account by the government."
He stressed, "This file is being closely followed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani and is among the priorities of the government and the government program," pointing out that "the current government will localize the pharmaceutical industry and the manufacture of medical supplies and devices in Iraq," according to the official news agency.
