    Shafaq News/ The media office of the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, announced on Sunday that the latter exchanged congratulations, separately, with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ibrahim Raisi, and the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. On the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
    The statement added that Al-Sudani expressed his wishes to invest the atmosphere of political calm in the region for the good and peace of all brotherly and friendly peoples and countries.



    The depth of historical relations with the two neighboring countries was also emphasized, and the importance of enhancing mutual cooperation, in a way that contributes to achieving common interests, and consolidating the security of the region and the prosperity of its peoples, according to the statement.

    Last March, Iran and Saudi Arabia announced the resumption of their diplomatic relations, which were severed in 2016.
    According to a tripartite statement, the Saudi-Iranian agreement took place at the initiative of the Chinese president to develop good neighborly relations between Riyadh and Tehran.
    At the time, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the agreement reached between Saudi Arabia and Iran to resume bilateral relations, according to which a new page of diplomatic relations between the two countries would begin.
    The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the efforts made by the Iraqi government in this context, through Baghdad hosting the dialogue rounds between the two sides, and the solid base it established for the dialogues that followed through the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Republic of China, leading to the moment of agreement, which will be reflected in the integration of relations between the two sides and give A qualitative impetus in the cooperation of the countries of the region, with the aim of a framework that fulfills the aspirations of all parties and heralds the inauguration of a new phase.
